The Muzzio lab is part of the Behavioral and Cognitive Neuroscience (BCN) area in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. The BCN program is a doctorate program with a strong research-focus aiming at training students for careers in neuroscience. The coursework of the program requires a small number of courses, that can be expanded depending on the students’ background, interests, research needs, and/or future goals. The program brings students into the labs as soon as they join the program with the goal of providing in depth research training to ensure successful research careers. You can apply for the program here.

Please do not hesitate to contact Isabel Muzzio (Isabel-muzzio@uiowa.edu) with any questions regarding the Muzzio lab. The lab is always interested in finding new motivated graduate students! The Muzzio lab values students who have background in biology, neuroscience, and/or psychology and, in particular, those with strong computational background. We encourage applicants who have already gained research or computational research experience prior to graduate school.

The Muzzio lab is also a part of the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program. Therefore, students joining the Muzzio lab will be able to have interactions, connections, and potential collaborations with neuroscientists across campus, including the medical school. As a result, we also welcome graduate students in the Neuroscience Program.
